Many of the signs of the Saviors Returning to earth (after his resurrection and ascension) can be found it the Bible. Many different Christian religions interpret these signs differently. Some even combine them with other "signs" to create elaborate ideas and predictions.
The following is presented to you from a "Mormon" perspective, to help those that read it understand the current events of the wold, and how they might relate to the scriptures. As you read these I would also ask you to not only think of them in terms of the physical world's history, but also with the perspective of a spiritual realm were many of these things were first set in motion, and where some of the things prophesied of in the scriptures, may play out:
Many Christians may ask, "Is the church going to be destroyed in some way?" For Mormons, it's clear this has already happened. The Church established by Jesus lost it's authority as the apostles were martyred, and the church was eventually deemed the official church of Rome; resulting from the First Council of Nicaea 325 A.D., and thus the complete destruction of Christ's true church, and the birth of the Catholic Church.
A scripture from The Book of Mormon, correlates with this time (between 322 and 326 A.D.) saying, "wickedness did prevail upon the face of the whole land, insomuch that the Lord did take away his beloved disciples, and the work of miracles and of healing did cease because of the iniquity of the people." - Mormon 1:13
Such a world wide, general apostasy, certainly didn't happen overnight, but it's clear that by the early 4th century Christ's true church was no longer found upon the earth.
The other half of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 refers to the son of perdition being revealed. Perhaps referring to a restoration of truth to the world; through which the apostasy of the Christ's church would surly become evident.
Restoration - The gospel of Jesus Christ was lost from the earth through the apostasy that took place following the earthly ministry of Christ’s Apostles. That apostasy made necessary the restoration of the gospel. Through visions, the ministering of angels, and revelations to men on the earth, God restored the gospel. The Restoration started with the Prophet Joseph Smith (JS-H 1: 1-75; http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/128/20-21#20 D&C 128: 20-21}) and has continued to the present through the work of the Lord’s living prophets.
In Acts 3:20-22 it clear that Jesus will dwell in heavens "until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets". It also says "A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren..." meaning that prophets will exist after Jesus' ascension into heaven.
